DROPPING BLOCK ACTION. Cal. V. Gipson Wasp. S# 5556 (on action face with forend removed). The 26-3/8" medium weight barrel fitted with scope blocks and sleeved on front ramp holding sourdough bead is marked "V. Gipson" "WASP" on breech end. Compact Herren action with unique trigger/cocking/set trigger mechanism is engraved "Max Heym, Suhl" on top of receiver ring. Action is engraved with 70% coverage nicely cut scroll. "Herren" is stamped on left side of action and on left of opening lever. Custom capped pistol grip buttstock of fiddle figured American walnut measures 13-3/4" over Neidner steel buttplate. Stock features right hand shadow line cheekpiece and point pattern checkering. Matching long forend has white plastic accents around barrel mounting screw and front of action. CONDITION: fine as custom finished. Barrel with about 90% blue. Action retains about half of its original case color. Custom stocks retain most of their oil finish. Bore is very fine.
